Jelajahi Laut is a luxury liveaboard sail boat that was built in South Sulawesi in 2021 from ironwood and teak. Her name means "Explore The Sea", and guests can do exactly that on diving cruises through the best of Raja Ampat, Komodo, and the Banda Sea, always taking you to the best spots and away from the crowds.

Jelajahi Laut is just 27m long but is 7m wide, so there is plenty of space for the maximum of just 12 guests. The vessel was designed by experienced diver owners, optimising guest comfort with a spacious kit up area and camera station, where divers gear up and prepare for their underwater adventures. What's more, there are 11 boat crew, plus a Cruise Director and dive staff, making a staff - guest ratio of almost 1:1, meaning the level of guest service is very high.

There is a sun deck and shaded area, perfect for taking a nap or reading a book on a sun bed or one of the comfy beanbags. The saloon, as well as serving as an indoor dining area, has a widescreen TV and sound system, FISH ID books, board games, and a designated battery charging zone. There are also 2 stand up paddleboards for guests to further explore the sea.

There are 6 cabins onboard Jelajahi Laut, ranging from the very enticing Seaview Cabins that feature private balconies, to Deluxe cabins for couples or friends, and economy 3-share Standard cabins. All cabins feature ensuite private bathrooms.

The shaded dive deck is very spacious and located towards the bow of the boat. Here you will find handy a shower and bathroom, as well as large equipment rinse tanks. Diving activities are conducted from 2 fibreglass tenders with twin 40 HP outboards. Nitrox is also available. Safety features include SART, EPIRB, AIS, GPS, depth sounder, VHF radio, as well as smoke alarms, fire extinguishers, life jackets, life rings, flares and 2 life rafts. There is also a satellite phone for emergencies.

Jelajahi Laut accommodates 12 guests in 6 cabins. The are 2 stunning 20 sqm Seaview Cabins on the upper deck that feature a 160x200 double bed, bathroom and private balcony with seaviews. On the lower deck there are 2 Deluxe cabins (17 sqm) that feature a 140x200 double bed and a 90x200 single bed, and a bathroom. Also on the lower deck are 2 Standard twin bed cabins with 90x200 single beds. These 2 cabins share a bathroom.

Day 1
You’ll meet in Sorong Harbour in the morning, where you can have a coffee or tea and wait for all guests to arrive. Once everyone is ready, you'll get on the speedboats and board Jelajahi Laut. Once onboard, you’ll enjoy a fresh juice or coconut, while listening to a welcome introduction of guests and crew, followed by a general safety briefing and explanation of the boat. Then you'll settle into your cabin, while staff set up the diving area. A light lunch follows and soon after, at around 3 pm you’ll head for a check dive on the slopes of Mioskon Island. The rest of the day is at your leisure. Dinner is served on the main deck. Toast your Raja Ampat diving holiday with sunset drinks before turning in for the night.

The dive site selection will be determined by the cruise director who will consider the natural elements (current, weather and tide) as well as the interests and experience of the group, to make sure each dive is safe and suitable. Raja Ampat provides plenty of sites to suit even the most experienced or particular diver.
After breakfast all divers and guides meet on the dive deck where you will listen to the dive briefing of the 1st morning dive. Expect to witness the beauty of Raja Ampat - the most biodiverse region in the world, from the very first dives till the end of your trip. You will be pleased to discover pristine coral reefs, incredible visibility, sponges, sea fans and an explosion of marine life in different sizes and shapes. Countless nudibranchs and invertebrates will be hard to find without the help of the expert guides, while there will be no need for help to identify a wobbegong or epaulette shark, or to enjoy the view of manta rays being cleaned by wrasses. You can also check out reef sharks swimming near the sandy bottom, schools of mackerel, tuna and barracuda hunting anthias, glassfish and other small dwellers of the reef.
All this activity requires energy so you'll need to replenish your levels. Meals are served a la carte in the dining area of the indoor saloon. You can enjoy a pre-breakfast (at 6 am, before the first dive), a main breakfast at 8:30 am, lunch (at noon), afternoon snacks, and then dinner at 7:30 pm. The cuisine is a mixture of Indonesian and international dishes. Local dishes include Beef Rendang, Soto Ayam, Nasi Campur, Thai green curry, and grilled fish. One evening will include a beach barbeque.

Day 8
After coffee and a small breakfast, the speedboats will take you to land and for a short hike up a hill in the jungle to spot the red Bird of Paradise perform its mating rituals. Back onboard again for healthy breakfast, after which it’s time to gear up one last time and go for the final dive of the trip. Then it’s time to wash all the gear, pack up, have some tasty lunch and take some group pictures with all crew involved. Back in Sorong, you can meet up with the crew for dinner and go for a game of pool or karaoke afterwards.

The cruise will also involve a land tour to the historically fascinating Spice Islands.

The sites around Flores and Alor have some amazing critters like hairy frogfish and Halimeda ghostpipefish, rhinophias, hairy and tiger shrimps, wonderpus octopus, pygmy seahorses. The diving in this area is more than just macro though. Whitetip reef sharks, bamboo sharks, schools of fusiliers, sunfish, oversized bumphead parrotfish. Spanish Dancers and other nocturnal critters can be seen on several dives. It will be a blast of colours and emotions.
The Forgotten Islands are a remote chain of islands that offer some of the best diving in Indonesian waters. Attractions include gin-clear waters, patch reefs and coral bommies, and spectacular wall dives on impossible drop-offs. The nutrient rich currents can bring sunfish, dogtooth tuna, reef sharks, as well as maybe sailfish. Prepare your camera gear for pelagics, muck diving, schooling hammerheads, schooling surgeonfish, and large schools of barracuda.

Dive experience: At some of the Komodo dive sites, the currents can be challenging, the water can vary from warm to quite cool, and waves and surface currents can make these dive sites quite challenging. While not always as challenging, Raja Ampat can be tricky at times too. The minimum number of logged dives for joining a trip is 10, and all divers must have a minimum of open water and deep adventure dive (which can be taken onboard). 75 logged dives are recommended. Jelajahi Laut's highly experienced guides will choose the sites and dive times according to the experience level of the divers to make sure each dive is safe and suitable. The advanced course can also easily be integrated into the trip, with a minimum number of 2 - this can be organised at check in.

Cruise price per person includes: Cabin accommodation, breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, drinking water, soft drinks, hot drinks, return transfers to the boat from the dive centre (Komodo only), dives (as detailed in the trips above), experienced English-speaking divemaster(s) (max. 4 divers per guide), scuba equipment (Komodo only), torch, tanks, weights and weightbelts, all taxes.

Cruise price per person excludes (mandatory, unless customer provides own): Scuba equipment rental (excludes dive computer and torch: USD 25 per day), Komodo National Park fees (week days: USD 11 per day, Sundays and holidays: USD 15 per day) in cash (IDR only), Raja Ampat Park fees (USD 211) in cash (IDR only), diving insurance (DAN insurance can be purchased onboard). Unless otherwise stated, all the listed items need to be paid on arrival, cash (IDR only) and cards accepted.

Optional extras: Beer, nitrox for enriched air-certified divers (USD 10 per day), 15 litre tank (USD 10 per day), dive computer (USD 7 per day), return transfers from the nearest airport or your local hotel (except Komodo). Unless otherwise stated, all the listed items need to be paid on arrival, cash (IDR only) and cards accepted. Note: prices of items purchased onboard are subject to change.

How to get there: Raja Ampat: The Jelajahi Laut departs from the harbour in Sorong. You can fly directly to Sorong from Jakarta, Ujung Pandang (Makassar) and Manado. From Bali there are convenient connections via Ujung Pandang (Makassar) and Manado. Meeting point is at the Marina Star Cafe in Sorong Harbour at 7:30 am, where you can have a coffee or tea and wait for all guests to arrive. Once everyone is ready, you'll get on their speedboats and board Jelajahi Laut.
The last dive on these cruises will be 10:30 am on the final day, and then the boat returns and arrives in port to disembark after lunch. Expected time of arrival back in Sorong is 4 pm.
Komodo: These liveaboard safaris depart at 8 am from Labuan Bajo, Flores (meet at 7:30 am at the Mikumba Dive Centre on the morning of your cruise to complete registration form, size out your dive equipment, and pay the park fee). Taxis will be provided to collect guests from their local hotels and take them to the harbour. You can fly direct to Labuan Bajo from Bali or Jakarta (and we can help you arrange this if necessary).
The last dive on these charters will be 1-2 pm on the final day, and then the boat returns and arrives in port for disembarkation at around 5 pm.
Banda Sea: These liveaboard safaris depart at 11 am from the jetty at Tulehu Harbour, Ambon (meet at the jetty on the morning of your cruise). You can fly direct to Ambon from Jakarta, Bali, Sorong or Surabaya.
The last dive on these trips will be 1-2 pm on the final day, and then the boat returns and arrives in port shortly thereafter. You will disembark after lunch at 5 pm.
All: Due the timing of domestic flights, it is highly likely you will need to stay at least 1 night before and after a trip. In all cases, please wait at least 18 hours before flying after diving. For more details, including airlines, see our Indonesia travel information section.
